President Trump and his administration have repeatedly violated norms and rules governing our justice system during his first months in office – from calling for the prosecution of political rivals, to demanding loyalty from, and then firing, FBI Director Comey.
Troubling reports have now surfaced that President Trump personally interviewed Jessie K. Liu as a candidate for the post of U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, in contravention of the norms and practices surrounding those selections. With the president and the administration willfully disregarding the rule of law, it’s more important now, than ever, that Congress stands up and holds the White House accountable.
