Letter Calling for Hatch Act Investigation of Pompeo’s Push to Release Clinton Emails Before Election

Update (Oct. 19): OSC Opens Case File

On Monday, Oct. 19, the Office of Special Counsel confirmed it will open a case file to address the complaint American Oversight submitted regarding Secretary Pompeo’s reported efforts to release the emails of former Secretary Hillary Clinton ahead of the election.

 

In a one-sentence email to American Oversight, the chief of OSC’s Hatch Act unit wrote, “We received your Hatch Act complaint and will open a case file to address this matter.”

American Oversight letter to Special Counsel Henry Kerner, the U.S. Department of State Office of Inspector General Matthew S. Klimow, and State Acting Legal Adviser Marik String requesting an investigation into whether  Secretary Mike Pompeo has ordered any department employees to act in violation of the Hatch Act.
