No Records Response from Commerce ITA Regarding Talking Points for Nuclear Exports Plan with Saudi Arabia

June 20, 2019
The Commerce Department's International Trade Administration stated that it had no records of talking points mentioning certain key words, such as "Marshall Plan" and "Westinghouse." American Oversight sought these records after a report by the House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Reform revealed how, in the early days of the Trump administration, senior White House officials worked outside standard policymaking processes to advance a nuclear exports plan involving sharing nuclear technology with Saudi Arabia. The report highlights serious conflict of interest concerns and extensive undue influence from officials outside government. It also notes that President Trump reportedly held a meeting on the topic of sharing nuclear technology with Saudi Arabia as recently as February 12, 2019.
