Records from the Census Bureau in response to American Oversight's request for directives and email communications concerning the federal response to the Covid-19 pandemic, including related email communications with the Executive Office of the President. These records include agency presentations, talking points, and emergency preparedness plans.

The lawsuit came amid new reports that the Census Bureau plans to end its door-knocking outreach earlier than planned, potentially decreasing the accuracy and benefiting Trump’s political party.

Lawsuit filed by American Oversight against the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Commerce for directives and communications regarding the implementation of the 2020 census in light of the coronavirus pandemic. This lawsuit also seeks records reflecting communications with the White House, the office of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and non-government entities regarding the 2020 census.

Trump is apparently counting on the public to be too distracted by the coronavirus to pay much attention to his continuing dictator-like purges of government officials and his brazen rejection of oversight.
