American Oversight has obtained and published records that shed light on the effort to upend U.S. democracy, including audio recording of a Trump call to a Georgia election investigator.

The attempts to overturn the election and keep Trump in power failed, but the forces behind them are still active and have shifted their focus to imposing new voting restrictions.

Audio file released by the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office of a December 23, 2020, phone call between then-President Donald Trump and chief investigator Frances Watson. This file was released to American Oversight on March 10, 2021, in response to a public records request. A copy of the recording was separately obtained and reported on by the Wall Street Journal on March 10, 2021.
