From investigations into the president’s perceived enemies to interference in the criminal cases of Trump allies like Flynn and Roger Stone, the ongoing politicization of the department is a dangerous threat to the rule of law.

American Oversight and nonprofit legal organization Student Defense sued the Department of Education on Wednesday for records related to the repeal of a rule protecting students from excessive debt. 

Lawsuit filed by Student Defense, represented by American Oversight, against the Department of Education for communications with non-government parties regarding the Gainful Employment Rule, which Secretary Betsy DeVos repealed in July 2019. The Gainful Employment rule sought to protect borrowers from for-profit colleges that graduate students with excessive loan debt.
