With the Trump administration’s health care reform efforts stalled yet again, American Oversight today sued to force the release of a March letter from President Trump to House Republicans detailing potential administrative options he could use to undermine the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

American Oversight today sued the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) for the release of records related to any wiretaps of Trump Tower and for other documents related to the investigation of the Trump campaign’s connections with Russia.

“The president doesn’t own the White House — it’s the people’s house and the American public deserves to know who is doing business there."

Following the news that the White House plans to break with existing policy and refuse to release visitor logs to the public, the American Civil Liberties Union, American Oversight, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, Every Voice, Public Citizen, the Sunlight Foundation, and United to Protect Democracy issued a joint letter calling for that decision to be reversed.

American Oversight is dedicated to accountability and ethics in government. That means investigating and calling out misconduct whenever we see it—but as a recent dustup demonstrated, not everything that seems scandalous at first is actually illegal. Or to put it another way, instant reactions on Twitter may not always be the best arbiter of the law.

American Oversight today called on Congress to open a formal investigation into reports that a senior advisor to President Donald Trump may be a member of a Nazi-affiliated organization.
