In its lawsuit regarding the Justice Department’s continued investigation of Hillary Clinton, American Oversight asked the court to allow for discovery, including potentially depositions, a legal proceeding rarely used in FOIA litigation.

Department of Justice Civil Rights Division stated that it had no record of comms with Jones Day or Eric Dreiband. American Oversight asked for records after the New York Times reported that DOJ "is preparing to redirect resources of the Justice DepartmentÕs civil rights division toward investigating and suing universities over affirmative action admissions policies deemed to discriminate against white applicants."

Department of Justice's Civil Division's said they had no records in response to our request seeking records sufficient to identify the names and titles of individuals at DOJ serving on the Religious Liberty Task Force, as well as records regarding the guidance used for selecting members of the task force. A DOJ memo in July announcing the task force stated that Civil Division would be represented in the new body.
