These records also include briefing memos prepared by the State Department for former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's meetings with Mexican government officials in 2017. The memos include the issue of President Trump's border wall proposal under the heading "Watch Out For / If Raised."

American Oversight sued the State Department in order to obtain records related to communications and negotiations with the Mexican government regarding President Trump's ongoing claims that Mexico will pay for the proposed border wall.
