The Department of Energy stated it had no records responsive to American Oversight's FOIA request for communications with various energy industry trade groups discussing Secretary Rick Perry's order that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) fast-track consideration of a rule that would force regional electricity grid operators to subsidize qualifying coal and nuclear plants.

The Department of Energy stated that it had no responsive records for communications between political appointees (in the Office of the Secretary, the Office of the Under Secretary for Energy, or the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy) and Griffin Perry or any representative of Grey Rock Energy Partners.
